My son, who is quite an adventurous soul, created a situation that prompted a required court appearance. He was off medication and while driving his car in an erratic fashion (He said, "You know Mom, ... like in Top Gun when Maverick was flying the skies!) the police attempted to get him to respond to them. He said he has no memory of their blue lights and he had driven his tires and wheel rims off of his car after two blow-outs - a result of driving across a cement divider in the road. So, he parked his car and took off on foot running up the inner-state. They finally got him, arrested him for "resisting arrest without violence," and took him to jail. He was there for 3 weeks without our family knowing where he was - he was so confused he did not know how to use the phone.
So, we/he had to get medical records for the past 10 years to the district attorney to prove he is clean and sober and has a legitimate diagnosis. The DA told me the police in their area (2 hours from here) are not trained in mental health issues -- they simply take everyone to jail rather than the psych hospital. She told me it was important the judge know we just did not come up with a diagnosis to get charges dropped and the ten year history would prove that, where as the new letter from the doctor was not enough.
I knew the charges would be dropped and although the DA warned me to be ready to sit in court all day - dependent upon when his case was called in front of the judge. I believed his case would be called 1st, 2nd, or 3rd so I took my bathing suit and towels for us to go rafting down a spring fed river in that area.
We were in the front row of the court room and the judge was making his introductory remarks. The DA entered the room, glanced our way, approached us, informed us his charges had been dropped and we could leave!!! We were so happy!
We left the court room and drove the additional 90 miles to get us to the Itchetucknee River for three hour floating down the spring fed river in 72 degrees! It was a very fast moving stream, cool and fun!
My daughter, (an Abe tester right now) after hearing of our float trip said, "I don't get it. When did they make this decison? and when did you learn about it?" I told her the story - and that I simply packed our water gear in the trunk before leaving home.
I knew we would not be in the court room all day but it was a day for me to have fun with my son! My son's Dad said, "It's kind of frustrating that you drove all the way there - to not have to be there." I responded, "No, I knew we would not be long so just brought our stuff for floating!"
We had a ball - laughed all the way back home and really connected sweetly!
I am particularly appreciative of this new way of life - not waiting for the universe to carry me somewhere and then complaining about the results! Instead created my own results!

First, so happy to see you here. Second, what a cool story. Feeling good, expecting a good outcome, and floating down the stream, and seeing the good in it all.
Woo hoo-thanks.
