Okay you're going to laugh. Or groan. Or silently ask me why in the heck I even posted about this in the first place. But this is funny, and sometimes I am aaaaaaall too easily pleasured by the littlest things in life.
So a few days ago, I was out in the backyard when I saw a little green lizard scooting through the grass. I was in a fabulous mood, so I went and sat down and chatted with it. Yeah I do this. I'm a huge animal lover, and I'll chat with darn near any critter that crosses my path. So I crooned about how pretty he was and thanked him for sitting with me. He let me pet him with a fingertip, and after a few minutes, I said my goodbyes and got back to work.
A few hours later, one of my cats, who had been outside, comes darting by with something in his mouth. I chased him down, and it was the lizard. I got the lizard away from the cat, picked him up and took him back outside and set him in the grass where I sat a minute or two to make sure he was alright (which he was). I remember being tickled because I petted him a bit more and he closed his eyes and lazily whipped his tail around like my cats do when they're being petted and are happy. Then I nudged him a bit, and he darted away. I told my sweetie about it when he got home.
So today, I was listening to Abe who was talking about Esther being somewhere (I can't remember where). She'd felt something on her arm and looked down to find out it was a lizard, to whom she'd said something like, "Huh, you don't feel anything like I thought you would feel." She'd described it as smooth velvet whispering across the skin.
So about an hour later I had to take the dogs outside, and I'm sitting on the concrete when I look over... and there's my lizard sitting there looking at me. I died laughing. I was like, "Ooooh, well, hey there, cutie! It's good to see you again!" I got a slight chill when I petted him and he lazily whipped his tail like a cat. He crawled halfway on my hand, and I helped him up the rest of the way, and he soaked up my warmth while I soaked up his color (such a brilliant shade of green!). I asked him if he wanted to be back in the warm sunshine... and he sloooowly crawled up my arm to my shoulder!
I took him over to the grass, picked him up off my shoulder and lowered my hand to the grass where I nudged him so he'd hop off. He wasn't in any hurry to go anywhere so I petted him a little more. He looked so content. :) I was just about to say goodbye when he decided to skitter off.
My sweetie is poking fun at me and saying, "Awwww, Jess made a new frieeeend." XD
Okay, okay. I'm crazy. I know. :P But that was just toooooo cool for words. :D

PS: Thanks, Esther. They do feel like velvet whispering across the skin.
