View Full Version : An enlightened way to look at meat eating

A cow’s greatest joy is to give itself to us.
And, all those cows and chickens are alive thanks to us meat-eaters; they have the chance (opportunity) to incarnate, as well as the honor of serving us.
Lettuce and potatoes are also dying, in service to us. All of life serves higher life. Such is the way of life on earth.
Also note that there is no such thing as “death”, which is merely a mental construct. “Death” is a linear concept, dependent on time and location. As such, it is decidedly not “real”.
Life cannot “die” (cease to exist)… life merely changes form.
As Wayne Dyer said, “You are not a human being having a spiritual experience, you are a spiritual being having a human experience”.
I am not a materialist, I am not an atheist, and I am not skeptical.
I no longer identify with the linear world of form (material, physical) but rather, with the non-linear (context, essence, Divinity).
As such, I no longer am afraid of death (Ok, well I’m still working on it) and do not think in terms of “I killed the chicken”.
I am the Silent Witness (Consciousness itself) observing a piece of meat called “Stephane” eating another piece of meat called “cow”. When such activities are done in Love, one can begin to see the beauty in hamburgers.
Meat is not “murder”, meat is merely energy that is in service to life itself. And so are carrots and peas.

Hey Ya'll,
I was a vegetarian for about 12 years & have started eating meat again in about the last 18 months. I agree with Alex about the deplorable conditions in which animals are raised & slaughtered particularly in the US. (Hell, I even have a retired greyhound living with me who I adopted specifically because I hated the way racers are treated.)
I just try to be mindful of what types of meat I purchase. Eggs & dairy products are something I pay a lot of attention to, as well. I try to be free-range, organic products as much as possible. I am very fortunate to have an excellent grocer in my area that has TONS of choices for better foods. We also don't frequent fast food establishments, who, in my opinion are driving the food market.
I guess it gets down to this: I feel that I can influence the market & it's conditions by making choices with my dollars. Along with other similar-minded folks, I actually help to co-create a market demand for better, healthier food animals. I will happily pay more money for better treatment of these animals & thereby get a better product to put in my body. Lots of people simply eat what's put in front of them, but not me.
Wow! Who knew being a savvy shopper could actually be kinda Abeish?!?

Factory-farming is awful and I try not to think about it. I also try not to "push against" it too. That's kinda hard cause I really just want to set all those animals free and put the farmers in jail! But then I tell myself... well, these animals know what they are getting into when they incarnate into those bodies inside a factory farm. Sort of helps soothe me about it.
But what I do is like cigi... I am very particular about the foods I purchase and eat. Lucky for me I have the money and live in a good area (just north of San Francisco) where there is TONS of organic and free-range natural food.
In fact, we go so far as to purchase a whole beef from a farm where these animals live on wild pasture, in the hills, not far from the Pacific Ocean. They dwell in peace and ease, breathing the clean air, having room to roam, and munching on organic grasses in the fields. On "killing" day they don't even go to a slaughter house. The "harvester" goes out to the pasture and kills them right there, while they are munching on dandelions. (By the way, did you guys know that grass-fed beef is way different from grain-fed beef? Very healthy for you.)
Makes me feel good, knowing these animals have a lovely life and then only a moment or two of pain and then they are off to non-physical.
I do the same thing with lamb and pork. Yum-yum.

Since I know we all CREATE our experiences, including the animals, I don't feel sorry for them. They attract the "horrible" things that happen to them. I know that they're living happily ever after, even though from our perspective it may seem like the opposite of that. Much love!

But it doesn't mean I have to support it. Or that they are enjoying it. Cows have sadness and terror too just like us.
I agree.

Osho, the other day, I was writing a rampage of appreciation for my salad and I could feel the joy of the vegetables as I was enjoying them!
I thought to myself, I wonder what the higher conciseness of the sweet peppers thinks about as they are growing - do you know what I got? A whole orgasmic rampage about what kind of food they would be cooked in and how delicious it will be
I could feel them sort of buzzing at the ecstasy of becoming such a delicious creation on my plate
I loved feeling that
I loved being on that frequency to celebrate my delicious salad with my salad
I remember thinking, wow! this is the happiest plate of food I have ever eaten.. food loves to be eaten.. of course it does!

Yes but this cow and chicken attracted this, maybe she wanted this and there is a benefit for her understanding there also.
I actually don't want to eat meat because of all THAT SUFFERING LIFE AND MURDER is written in their cells, and energy is energy, you eat this info with it.

the native americans, my husband and sister in law are of that line, one part algonquin and kickapoo and the other a cherroke, both said that the native americans thanked the animal for giving up its soul so that they may live--they honored the animal and knew that they were all one...some even asked for the animals spirit to watch over them...it was very sacred--whenever i cook meat, i think in those terms...since the spirit KNOWS it is all right, and that nothing can ever happen to it--it easily gives up its body for a new one...
Well this is great for you to think this way, and it sure is really useful, and I agree on almost every point. But I would rather eat wild animal meat-you see, I also talk with dead pig when I eat her meat.., but I really believe that it is better for me to eat lighter vibrations. I even eat fresh meat, because it feels good to me. I would just rather choose for me, because I have the choice better vibrations, lighter, and Yes like you said you can work on your meal offering this better vibration. I also thought about that they know that they serve with this. I am positively sure for myself that less meat I eat, better I see invisible things and communicate angels.
