This message relates to Forum Rules (http://abetalk.com/misc.php?do=showrules) #2:
Abetalk supports content authors, we respect the items they produce, and we respect their contribution to our community.
If you want to recommend a digital product to others on abetalk -- whether it be a book, mp3, or other digital content -- show respect to the content's author; link to their online shop so they have a potential of earning a living from their work.
It's not up to you to presume that others will not be interested in paying for content. In fact, if you feel so strongly about it that you're sharing it with others, that's a good indicator that others might be willing to pay for it. If those people have a financial boundary and they're not able to pay for the content, they will be able to attract it through another means. But at least, give people the choice.
Abetalk extends its respect to content authors. If any one of you started publishing digital content, I would show you the same consideration had others tried to torrent and share your media.
With that said, here are the guidelines:
NO torrents or downloads; unless the files were published for free-distribution by the original content author.
NO torrent discussion, names of torrent websites, or links to torrent websites; if you want to know about torrents, read the Wikipedia article.
GIVE credit where credit is due.
DO NOT put me in a position where I have to clean up your threads and posts. I hate doing that. If you put me in that position, having read this post, I *WILL* resort to banning. My time is not to be wasted.
