Beaches. Soon summer will be here in the USA. The last time I was near a beach, was with my dad, a few years ago. It was Pt. Reyes, on a warm day. I walked in the sand with my shoes a bit, and then we turned and went on our way, visiting animal sanctuaries. My dad lives in Assisted Living now, and I went to visit with him, and doing this day long trip, knowing the day wasn't far off that he would be in Assisited Living and would be incapable of making such a trip, on any terms.

Having said that, I wonder what kind of day I would have at the beach, if I were to go to today. I spend a lot of my time working, and I find I enjoy certain aspects of the Home Health work that I do, and i wonder to myself, if I could really enjoy a vacation to the beach. Or would I feel bored a lot, and spend most of my time with my mind occupied on how my clients were doing.

My skin is sensitive, and I don't get much sun. A few years ago I burned my face, and my face is like super sensitive now. So, I wonder would I enjoy a whole day of sunshine, with no shade around. I'm not sure an umbrella would provide enough shade. And, yes I would use a super high level of sunscreen. And, clothing cover-ups.

I have a feeling I would just sit around and people watch. I would probably be going alone..though if I had a friend or friends along, I don't know what we would continue to talk about for over a 24 hour period.

I know I would miss the computer. I don't have a lap top. If I got one, would it really be worth bringing it along?

Hmmm. What are your beach experiences?

Hi Leigh ~

I, for one, positively LIVE for the beach!!! It is 55 minutes from my driveway to the Atlantic Ocean and I would be there every day if I could - at least in the summer and fall.

I don't have a home at the beach yet, but will soon. It is in my VE :) However, the Universe has been exceptionally great to me since I discovered how LOA works about a year and a half ago. Last year I had several invites to the beach for long weekends and one full week. This year, I already have invites for several beach weekends and another week from various friends who either own beach homes themselves, or have relatives who do.

Raymond and I were there for the day on Sunday, and even I (who stays tan most of the year), got a pretty good sunburn.

Definitely do not take a laptop to the beach! A laptop and sand are as compatible as water and electricity :)

If you go to the beach in the early morning or very late afternoon and wear sunscreen, you should be OK and not burn.

Many people don't realize this, but the beach in the fall is also wonderful, especially on the East Coast. The ocean water temperature is actually warmer in Sept and early October than it is most of the summer. The Gulf Stream helps with that. We were in Dewey Beach, DE last October and the water was very warm. The Chesapeake Bay is also spectacular. Even the NJ beaches (the ones that are closest to where I live) are warm then.

I can hardly wait for this weekend when we will be back
