Thanks for asking this mercunis. I've been wondering the same thing. Testing...

EDIT: Ah shit... didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Trying again...

EDIT: Ok I'm being lame. That worked - sort of. How do I get a full-size image rather than a thumbnail?

New Dawn Rising
Sun Aug 16 2009, 7:38pm
Ah... just read Steve's instructions. Of course! The img tag. You would never guess I am a programmer would you? XD

Jesus! OK if this doesn't work I'll kill myself.

[img class="inlineimg" src = "http://i25.tinypic.com/2hq9vno.jpg" /]

EDIT: Hmmm... seeing as I have no patience for this technical bullshit on my day off work I think I'll quit and go have a beer instead. Steve/11:11 - would you be so kind as to point out the error of my ways? I am wanting to embed a fullsize image - not a thumbnail. I'm a C and assembly language programmer. Not HTML. I am probably making the process too complicated.

Hi New Dawn,

You need to go to Advanced Editor. It's in the right corner of your
Message box where you see two As. Once you see it, select it, so you can go to HTML editor.

The link above still has the URL tags, which are [URL ] and [/ URL] which Advanced Editor shows you. You need to remove them in order for the HTML to register the
tags.

So it can look like this:

http://i25.tinypic.com/2hq9vno.jpg

or like the attachment you created:

Advanced Editor? Ah... I see! I don't remember you mentioning Advanced Editor in your instructions to Shelley. I must have just missed it. I'm a burnt-out techie (been doing it for 20 years) so when I read technical instructions anymore I just skim.

OK let's see how it goes:

EDIT: Yippee! It worked! Thank you Steve... I think I love you!

Hey Tai,

You need to load the file first on to Abetalk. The file you tried to load was on your computer's C drive. Use the Browse feature, Upload the file from your C drive, and once uploaded, get the URL of the uploaded file, and then you can paste the URL between the [img] tags.

:grin::grin::grin::grin:

Izzy copied a photo from the internet.

You can't copy a photo from your hard-drive like that, because we don't have access to your hard-drive. That would be a security issue if people could access your computer and look at any file they wanted. And also, every time you turn your computer off, we wouldn't be able to see the image. When your computer is off, the internet connection is off, and so is the hard-drive.

So you first have to upload the photo to a website server. A server is like your computer, but a server is online 24/7, and allows the public to view files that have been uploaded.

You can upload your image directly to Abetalk. Or you can upload your image to an image host (tinypic.com (http://tinypic.com), imageshack.us (http://imageshack.us)). The image host will give you a URL that points directly to the image (the URL will end in *.jpg, or *.gif, or *.png, depending on the type of image you uploaded). And now, you can use the tag to link to it.

What I thought Izzy meant, was that she just went to Google, picked out a picture, right clicked on copy, then here on paste. that was what I did. And them the above came out. I don't have that picture on my computer.

Yup. That is exactly what I did.

Yes I thought so  Well, when I did that, I got what I got. Without putting it on my computer. So I don't know...
