I was thinking that when I feel bad that I should do one of these things: 1. eat something 2. go to the bathroom. 3. rest 4. get up and do something, exercise. It's a constant struggle trying to figure out which one to do. Zen is doing things at their time. Do not hold the impulse and let them accumulate. Sometimes though I 'hold' the impulse, because there are so many, and they are contradictory, and it becomes like hacking my way through a dense thicket or looking at a collection of cards, trying to pick the 'right' ones. The GOOD voice says 'this is why people do them at certain times'. "Oh, it's 12pm, time for lunch". "oh it's 11pm time to sleep". My system often has different plans though. There is a disruption to everything that comes in like a storm and makes me vulnerable, and I only have the universe to protect me.

Dear friend,
The formula is simple:
Spirit imagines a form for a particular world. In this world the form is mental, emotional, and physical---in that specific order.
Look around you: Everything obviously emanates from within: Baby comes from within the mother; plant comes from within a seed; new earth (lava) comes from within the earth---it all emanates from within. There are no outside causes.
There is only a source of well-being. There is not a source of pain or chaos.
Keep the mental in peace or happiness and the emotions and physical will follow.
You only ever feel bad because of the thoughts you are focussing on. Make a deliberate choice to find thoughts that feel a tiny bit better and build up from there.
A thought feels bad if your soul refuses to look at it. Your soul is your source of light. No light on a thought means that thought is in darkness---the soul ain't looking at it because it is bullshit or otherwise unhelpful to the here and now. Find a thought that gives relief about the subject. Find a thought that your soul agrees with and you will feel better.
But you gotta have faith in a source of well-being and the existence of an all-knowing, all-loving soul (higher self, inner being, expanded being, god-self, etc etc) or else you cannot relax and be happy because you will still think it is all up to you to solve or fix or improve or change. You gotta have faith that you are a perfect piece of eternal consciousness---a perfect spirit who is perfectly equal and equally perfect to all others. Never born or created or made. Have always been alive. Life has always been ON. It did not come from anything or anywhere. This physical world comes from the imagination of perfect spirits.
Your soul is the hand and you are the glove, the extension into this physical world. The soul is in control of most things. The only things you have control of are your focus and attitude. Focus is moment-to-moment choosing of thoughts. Emotions tell you if the thought feels good or bad so you can continue that line of thought or find a better-feeling one.
Attitude based on faith in well-being is best attitude for the best of everything here and now. Even when things fuck up, you recover quickly---you spring back into balance.
It all begins and ends mentally. Make yourself happy or at peace mentally and the emotions and physical will follow. Wig out mentally and the emotions and physical will follow.
It is all moment to moment. You can always start from NOW to deliberately find a thought that uplifts or encourages or empowers you or simply gives a tiny bit of relief. You can always find something to appreciate. Appreciation is the same vibe as love. So is allowance.
You are either allowing your well-being to flow or you are pinching yourself off from it moment by moment with your choice of thoughts. Your emotional guidance system tells you which thoughts are helpful/healthy and which thoughts are unhelpful/unhealthy.
You get immediate results.
Blaming anyone or anything else for your less than well-being is dis-empowering, delusional, and victim-ish. You are the sole cause of your existence and well-being---moment by moment.
It's a drag to see people pointing to stuff/people outside of themselves as the cause of their unhappiness or unwellness. It's a drag to see them reach for things outside of themselves to make themselves happy or healthy (exercise, diet, quit job, quit relationship, get new job, get new partner, get new car, move to new place, etc etc). It's a drag to see and yet it is perfectly understandable and allowable.
It all begins and ends mentally. You can think yourself happy or at peace under any and all circumstances---it may take a few minutes, but if you have faith that there is only ever a source of well-being---and you deliberately choose to feel better by reaching for better-feeling thoughts, then you will do it---you will control how you feel---and how you feel determines what kind of day or night you are going to have---it determines your "luck" and whether or not things will work out like you want them to.
All this stuff makes perfect sense and becomes do-able after you have truly reached a point where you simply cannot bear to be unhappy or worried or depressed anymore---NO MORE---NOT EVER AGAIN (or at least not for more than a couple of minutes once in awhile at most). You truly do not want to commit suicide and instead truly desire to find a way to be happy or else!
You just KNOW, when you are at the suicidal edge, that you have imagined yourself there---you have THUNK yourself there, and eventually you experiment with the idea that if you thunk yourself there then you can stop thinking yourself there. I have made such experiments and can verify that it is true---you KNOW which/what thoughts lead to dark alleys---YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, and if you want to remain happy or at peace then you just refuse to follow or pursue those thoughts. That is all you have EVER done every single time you have had a "good" or "up" day. You refused to pay attention to the negative thoughts and instead turned your attention to any other thoughts that felt better. You kept yourself up. You made the day or encounter good. You did it but didn't realize you were doing it---you attributed the good day to vitamins or a sunlamp or some pendant around your neck---and that's why your good day didn't last for very long.
This time do it deliberately---consciously---and observe and feel the results. It will snowball into a momentum of perpetual joy and appreciation and vitality.
Empowerment does not make you weak---neither does lovingness. It allows every thought and thing. It resists no thought or thing. It is all inclusive. You do not have to become a wimp or a goody-goody to be happy and at peace. You become more of who you really are, not less. Your clarity becomes clearer. Your confidence and faith become stronger. You laugh easier. You feel and look younger. You smile easily. You sigh instead of scream.
There is no one you are supposed to be or measure up to. No one anywhere is keeping score. There is nothing you must do or be or have---and there is nothing you cannot be or do or have.
When you deliberately feel good, you are not concerned with the worry about how others are perceiving you or whether or not you might say or do something inappropriate. You don't care because you know that when you feel good you like to be kind and friendly and that's where you're coming from when you're interacting with someone. Your sensitivities are balanced and in tune automatically. You are not going to just suddenly become hateful and mean and ugly. It doesn't happen when you are centred in happiness or appreciation or peace. The worry that it will happen is allowed and ignored and used as a springboard to focus in the opposite direction---to find a better-feeling thought.
All that being said, you never get it wrong---not really---because you are never done living. It is always now---even when you're "dead" (non-physical). You are an eternal consciousness---so what does it REALLY matter what has happened or not happened in this obvious equivalence to a dream?
See? You get into the habit of talking yourself up and always looking at the bright side. You get out of the habit of talking yourself down and usually looking at the dark side.
Use your reason to maintain your faith in well-being. Argue for well-being. Look for excuses to feel well mentally. Your emotions will feel well and so will your physical body---and so will everything else in your life!
