View Full Version : Bashar's most awesome definition of 'Habit' - So freeing

The only reason it seems difficult is because of what you define a habit to be. Let me offer our definition of a Habit.

Habit..something you do, that you don't know you're doing. Once you know you're doing it, you don't have it anymore - its gone. When you know you have a habit, that does not mean its the beginning of the process of changing it, it means its the end, you don't have it anymore.

If you appear to keep doing it, that's because you have a definition of Habit that says this is difficult, now that I am aware I have this habit I have to go through some lengthy process full of struggle, in order to divest myself of this horribly difficult behavior pattern, I know this is just going to take years and years and years.

Bashar
From the audio tape titled Fundamentals, available for free at
http://bashar.org/audio/fundamentals.html

I've gotten this fully only yesterday perhaps, as I found some areas where I wanted to make changes and did up a big list of new behaviors and then started to think how I'd do all this....STRESS! Anyway knowing what I know I just tore up the paper, realizing I didn't have to do a darn thing. Life is for entertainment purposes, if this ain't fun, its out. Its great to now hear this put in such crisp words by Bashar.

Two key takeaways for me -

> When it seems that things are getting worse, actually they're getting better - it simply means my stream is flowing strongly and cleaning out all the debris in the way. ( Last week I found a youtube video, with Abraham saying exactly this)

> I don't have to fix anything, in the moment of my awareness of what's desired, it is done. Really all I have to do is to enjoy this present moment and let it happen.

Love to you all

Very interesting Rewa... my belief is that it doesn't take years to release a habit... just 21 days. I got that number from a book I read decades ago called "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind." And I've read other things throughout the years that verified the 21 day number.

So anyway... sounds like Bashar is saying that all you have to do is see the habit... become aware of it fully... and wish to release it... and then......... :?: That's all there is to it?

Yes this is pushing my belief system. Have you experimented with this yet? Is it true for you? Have you released a habit in this way?

See I'm thinking that if I put this to the test then it will buck my belief system so I won't get good results. But you seem open-minded enough to give it a valid test. And if you can do it then that will help me release my skepticism.

Hope all that made sense... :)

The habit of constantly having to do something (instead of comfort just Being and allowing myself to be inspired to the next activity)
The habit of eating sweet things to numb myself
The habit of ejaculation
The habit of worry about worst case scenarios and many many more

New Dawn I have released a whole lot of patterns with this, this definition only came to me through Bashar a few days back, but simply relaxing as Abraham suggests and affirming to myself that wherever I am is fine did the trick for me.

Oh, and its never been an instantaneous thing for me, much more graduated, over say a week or even a month - I just find my interest/craving for it dropping naturally.

To me the real beauty is in the grace of the whole process. Its totally loving, chilled out.

Oh :!: I'm getting it now. Basically all you've been doing to "release" these habits is to see them, know you want to release them... and then accept yourself fully right where you are at. Even in the middle of doing the habit.

So its not pushing against the habit and not "trying" to get rid of the habit and not seeing the habit as a bad thing that must be eliminated.

Which is very Abe of course... and obvious to me now that you've explained it... and I see the link with what Bashar is saying.

Thanks!

You expressed that very clearly New Dawn. Yes, you accept whatever is happening because you realize that the things that are happening are paving the way for it - It Is Done.

This is so interesting as I was just listening to that same Bashar audio tape today! It was so refreshing and reassuring to hear how easy it can be. By just recognizing it and being aware of the habit, you have already won half the "battle" so to speak.

I really enjoyed very much listening to Bashar. I will get some of their CDs for sure.

Thanks for the thread Rewa!

there is simply NOTHING on this planet that affects EVERYONE in the same way--there are no absolutes--and WE choose how we wish to align with the mixed messages out there...

:)

Hey Alex it is good to see you.

This is something I'm internalizing now, and from my experience I know its true - from the amount of sleep we need, to the foods we choose, to practically every bitty thing - all those universal truths we chose to believe earlier don't have much to them - following my own rhythm that feels like soaring.
