Tell me about Facebook?

Can someone tell me a bit about Facebook? I can't see pages because I'm not a member, and I want to know if I like it enough to become a member..
What is it all about? Is it the same as MySpace? Or what is the difference?

Great question, Tai. I've been on myspace for years now and it seems that more people are on Facebook these days. I've heard people say that it is "better" then myspace, but I want to know why.

Well, I think people think that it's "better" because it is more "grown-up" you could say. It is a great way to say hello to old friends or meet new people because you can search for someone by their full name. I have an account there. You can post pictures up and message people and tell everyone what you are up to at the moment. many aber/like minded people are on there which you might enjoy!

I am not in myspace, but I love facebook. It has helped me re-connect with so many friends from the past.

In fact, just this weekend I found many of my friends from when I lived in the US 18 yrs ago.

And as Paula said, a lot of us Abers play there too! :wink2:

Facebook seems to load easier for me, mainly because it is not as graphic intensive as MySpace is. And yes...I think it is more "grown up"!

Do you have to use your full name on facebook? I tried to use only my first name, but it doesn't work. Do you guys all use your real first and last name?

I use my real name there Tai but you don't have to. I'm thinking maybe it requires two words (for name) so you can get creative with a name you want. :p

Another great thing about facebook is the privacy controls you have. You can make it so no one can find you buy searching, you have to add them instead. You can make lists of friends and choose the content that list can see and make a different list who can see certain things. You can even limit specific friends.

Really.. I'm trying to figure everything out right now, but it's so much hahaha. Does anyone know where I can see who I've invited but who has not yet accepted my friends request? I don't want to send double invitations..

I'm not sure where you find that, but it will tell you that you already invited them when you try again. Don't worry, they won't get two requests from you.
