Welcome to the new version of Abetalk. We are now running on vBulletin software -- generously contributed to us by Osho Rewa. I think you will like it more than our previous forum.

Here is a checklist of things you should probably do now:

1) Update your password.

Passwords from the phpBB forum are not compatible, so everyone has to reset their password.
Check your email for instructions on how to complete this step.

2) Upload your avatar and profile picture.

Failed to transfer.

3) Add a signature.

I had to erase them all.

4) Apply for "The Leading Edge" forum.

If you want access to the hidden discussion room, you will have to private message me again. Read about this hidden room (http://abetalk.com/showthread.php?t=2932).

5) Link your Abetalk account with Facebook. How do I link my accounts? (http://abetalk.com/showthread.php?p=43494#post43494)

Notifications: receive updates on facebook when you receive a new private message or a reply to your topic.
News feed: keep your friends updated. A story is posted to your news feed when you start a new discussion on Abetalk.

You can turn this off in Facebook > Application Settings > Abe Talk > Edit Settings > Never allow this application to post a new story

One-click login: when you are logged into Facebook and not Abetalk, click "Connect with Facebook" to log in instantly.
For new members: use your Facebook log in instead of having to register with Abetalk.

6) Enable WYSIWYG editor.

User CP > Edit Options (http://abetalk.com/profile.php?do=editoptions) > Miscellaneous Options > Message Editor Interface: Enchanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing

7) Chat window too small?

Click the arrow that appears beside the Chat header, and select View chat in full mode (http://abetalk.com/misc.php?do=cchatbox).

8) Enjoy the discussion :)

Let me know of any bugs you might spot.

Cheers ,

11:11.

How to link Abetalk account with Facebook?
I have to do that in my Facebook account?

How to link your Facebook account:

[Log Out] of your Abetalk account.
Go to Abetalk home page.
Click [Connect with Facebook]; wait for the Facebook window to open.
Log into your Facebook account.
Facebook will ask if you want to permit Abetalk to communicate with your Facebook account. Click Yes.
Under [Select a username], it reads, "Want to use your existing username?" Click this link.
Log in with your Abetalk details.

Done! Your Facebook and Abetalk accounts should now be merged.

You will now begin receiving updates on your Facebook Dashboard whenever you receive a reply to one of your threads.

You can now use [Connect with Facebook] to log into your Abetalk account. You can either: 1) go to facebook.com, log into your account, and then go to abetalk.com -- and you will be logged in on abetalk; or, 2) click [Connect with Facebook], and use your Facebook details to log in.

If you have any questions, please contact us (http://abetalk.com/sendmessage.php).

3) You finished reading the last post on a page, and there's no links to navigate? Use Forum Index to get back to index, or Top to jump to the top, and then use the breadcrumbs.

Hola 11:11, are you going to allow pictures in the signature lines? Right now permissions are set to NO. I SAY YES YES YES!!

1) User CP > Edit Signature > Signature Picture > Upload signature picture
2) Select a Picture, and Upload
3) Insert Signature Picture
4) Save Signature

The img tag is blocked because there is no way to restrict the display size. However, by uploading, you can use a picture in the signature -- with a maximum dimension of 500px (wide) x 100px (tall).

Ummmmmmmm, duh, but I can't find the "signature picture" link. Could it be that only you have that permission and we don't have access to it?

Oops. There ya go -- should be there now.

 Hi 11:11, this is Tangy but I made a new ID instead. My previous profile won't let me allow to log in with the new password provided by the vboard LOL! anyway, I think I like this new ID. I'd probably use this for the meantime :D

I was just going to ask the same thing, Ana.

11:11, how come I don't see options for changing font and adding smilies and such?

Thank you in advance, 11:11.

Sierra,

I don't see any folder for edit options or miscellaneous options? I am looking in control panel. I see a folder "color management" though.

Thank you!

Hi 11:11,

Do we need a "senior member" below the avatar?

1. WYSIWYG is the default editor for new members. However, after transferring the forum from phpBB, the program decided to set all of us to text editor. #6 on the What should I do next? list is instructions for setting this feature for your account.

2. An extended list of New Posts is available when you click Today's Posts.

3. YouTube -- post URL to the YouTube video, and the forum will embed a video.

4. Senior Member is default setting of the forum. I will turn it off for now.

5. I will fix Simon's username shortly. It seems there are 9 members whose account transferred twice, and so they have an imported_ in front of their name.

Cheers,
11:11
