View Full Version : How do you RELEASE a desire to the universe?

I heard Oprah mention in a convesation about LOA that it was when she released her desire to get the role for "The color purple" which she wanted so badly, that she received the phone call.
I didnt hear her explain further.

What does releasing mean exactly? Has Abraham talked about this?

Is it surrendering to let the universe decide if its for the best and if so you will get it and if not you will not?

Is it surrendering that you are okay either way and thus letting go of resistance so that it CAN come?

Im a little confused and really would like to know. I have a situation where I feel I need to release my desire because I just cannot seem to let go of my resistance. I keep getting thoughts of doubt in my head which has been going on for a very long time now.

It's the Zen approach some people take...it can be a little tricky but it works.

What she means is essentially stop thinking about what you want and it will come to you. In a way it means Allowing. You know it's already yours...so you don't sit there and constantly want it because you don't have it.

Release it. The universe already knows what it is you want....you don't have to launch the same rocket over and over again.

Yup, Chamber explained it well. It works every single time, for me.

Thanks Chamber - so how does one stop thinking about something that really matters?

Well, you can either distract yourself with other things to the point you forget about it.

Or you can live in the timeline where you already have it. Meaning, create the state you'll be in once you've already received it. Walk around all day pretending and acting like you already have it. Put yourself in alignment basically.

YES!

Or you can understand that IT IS DONE.

Hi Monica -

Maybe it would help to think of it this way:
Place an "order" & trust that it will come to you. If you ordered something online & knew it would take a while to receive it, you wouldn't keep checking to see if it was there. Same goes for anything you'd like to manifest. Just know it's coming & stop paying so much attention to it not being here yet....

Thanks everyone!! :grouphug:

I especially like this suggestion - you are right, I can just look at it at being processed and on its way.

Also. I realize that those resisting thoughts came from going back into the old story and figuring out how it could/should be done from there - and from there thoughts came in that wanted to suggest how it possibly couldnt...DELETE!

Everything is possible for the universal manager to arrange. Its doing just that already

Monica, Good Morning!

Great answers here-- to get back to Oprah's story for just a moment (because it's a great story).

In a nutshell, she went to the audition, thought she did very well, then didn't hear anything, didn't hear anything, didn't hear anything, started getting antsy, didn't hear anything, etc.

Sound familiar? ;)

She finally decided to call the producer or casting agent-- can't recall which. His answer was, "You don't call us. WE call you. And we haven't called you yet."

So, Oprah goes off on a weekend trip to (in her words) a "fat farm." She's jogging around the track, thinking about the part and feeling soooo frustrated and unhappy. So, she starts singing to herself, a gospel tune for which the words go, "I surrender all... I surrender all..."

As she sang the song, tears began to come and she said she physically felt herself release the issue, turning it over to God/ Universe/ etc.

A few minutes later, a woman from the spa came to find her on the jogging track. She said, "Stephen Spielberg is on the phone for you..."

Yup, that was the call. Great ending to it...

Oprah goes to take the call. Spielberg says, "Where are you?" She replies that she's at a fat farm. He says, "Well, you better get back here. And if you've lost even one OUNCE, you may have lost this part!"

She said she stopped by the Dairy Queen and got TWO scoops... just in case.

Last nite, I was just reading about this very thing on the other Abe forum.

Some members of that forum just returned home from the Abraham Alaskan cruise. One of them posted about some recurring themes and the number one theme that came up again and again was this.

We spend far too much time on Step One (asking) and not nearly enough time on Step Three (allowing). We only have to ask for what we want once. It is immediately given to us (Step Two - which is not our job). We then need to just relax and allow.

Like many, I have been putting my efforts on the asking part - over and over and over again -haha!! I am getting better at the allowing part. If it is too hard to just relax and not think of the thing you want, then do what 11:11 says. Think about it as if you already have it. Or think about the joy and excitement you will feel once you have it - the trick here is to be joyful and happy while you are thinking about it.

Thanks so much everyone, and thank you for posting Oprahs experience in more detail which I didnt catch completely.

Sooo, doesnt this mean Oprah gave UP??? And THAT"S when she got the call, because she didnt worry about getting it anymore?

I dont take this as her surrendering in terms of believing all is well?

I would love to hear your thoughts.

It means she gave up her FRUSTRATION! NOT the dream/goal its self. Surrender, in this case is not defeat - it's ALLOWING. Letting go in the knowledge that all IS well, that what you want is on its way.

Thank you Cigi - the way you describe it what she did feels downstream to me. I remember now Abraham saying that you cant give up your desire, you cannot become less that you have become. So, what I initially thought wouldnt make sense after all. YES, she surrendered knowing all is well and letting go of the frustration, the oars.

:grouphug: Thank you all so very much for bringing me clearance

i love that Oprah story. it illustrates so well what happens when we come into alignment.

i see her just letting go and letting Source take over. she released her frusteration. it's almost like you can visualize all that angst flowing out of her up up up into the universe and she let in all the love. it's a beautiful thing.

i know when i do that i can physically FEEL it. when i think about floating downstream without resisitance, my body relaxes, my mind relaxes and my FEELING takes over. a feeling of bliss and acceptance ... kind of like you're a baby and someone else is carrying you and you have no worries yourself. get back into that state of being--knowing the Universe is carrying you--and then you've got it!

You said that so beautifully ImagineLove  Knowing that the universe is carrying you, taking great care of you and your desires - that feels gooood :loveflag:
